Kara's love for baking began in the most personal way—alongside her brother, competing in cake decorating competitions. What started as a fun sibling rivalry turned into a deep-rooted passion, leading her to pursue a career in the pastry arts. In high school, she took her talents to the next level by attending a technical culinary program, where she sharpened her skills and dominated SkillsUSA, winning first place both regionally and statewide for New York State. Determined to turn her passion into a profession, Kara earned her bachelor's degree in baking and pastry arts from Johnson & Wales University. But it was during this journey that she truly realized the power of baking to create lasting memories—especially after the passing of her brother. The connection between food and emotion became deeply personal, and she knew she wanted to give that same gift to others. Kara went on to build an impressive resume, assisting in the launch of a small bakery and working in Forbes five-star-rated restaurants, including Walt Disney World. Through these experiences, she refined her craft, learning the intricacies of high-end pastry arts and the magic of bringing joy through flavor. For eight years, Kara ran her business informally, crafting custom creations that brought people together. In 2025, she officially established Stingo Sweets LLC, turning her lifelong dream into a thriving business. Her mission is simple yet profound: to create delicious, meaningful memories for every client, one bite at a time. She has since launched The Smart Cookie by Stingo’s Sweets LLC—a company specializing in handcrafted, limited-edition cookie boxes available through a monthly pre-order system, designed to deliver a sweet surprise an unforgettable memory.

The name Stingo comes from my last name, and choosing it was intentional. This business isn’t just about desserts—it’s about carrying forward a family legacy rooted in creativity, connection, and love. Keeping the Stingo name at the heart of the brand ensures that legacy lives on in everything we create.
The logo you see throughout our brand holds a very special place in my heart. It was designed by my brother, whose creativity and talent continue to inspire this business every day. Although he has since passed away, his presence remains woven into Stingo’s Sweets—through the logo, the colors, and the feeling behind every detail.
The imagery within our brand reflects what mattered most to him and to us: celebration, warmth, craftsmanship, and moments shared together. Soft colors, classic baking elements, and thoughtful design choices were all intentional—meant to evoke comfort, nostalgia, and joy. These visuals aren’t just aesthetic; they tell a story of love, remembrance, and the beauty of creating something meaningful.
